We are pleased to report that in the financial year 2023-24, under our BPF Scholarship Project, 51 students were awarded scholarships from the following schools:

GHS HalloMajra	( 10 Paramount Scholars )
GHS Sec 36 ( 7 )	( 5 Dr Amarjit K Girgla Scholars, 1 Paramount Scholar & 1 Darshan Mehandru Scholar )
GMSSS Sec 37	( 9 Paramount Scholars )
GMHS Khuda Jassu ( 5 )	( 2 Gurbans K Bedi Scholars & 3 Noor Scholars )

Total 51 scholarships awarded. All these students were met and selected on the basis of their meritorious performance and need. We hope these students will be motivated to do well in their studies and aim for scholarships next year too.

Project Nanhe Akshar completed

Greetings!

Project Nanhe Akshar reached fruition today in the presence of the Director of Social Welfare, Mrs. Pallika Arora, and Supervisors. The remaining 150 sets of books for Project 1 Anganwaris were handed over to them for onward distribution to the Anganwadi workers.

The Director appreciated the gift of learning for the children of Anganwadis. This project now covers 450 Anganwadis and will impact the lives of more than 12000 children every year and make learning fun for them. This will also aid in their cognitive development and make them eager to learn more.

Project Nanhe Akshar (2)

Project “Nanhe Akshar” (2) was actioned in 150 Anganwadis at Bal Bhawan on 28th March in the presence of the Anganwadi workers and the Supervisors of Project 3.

The set of 5 books – Bal Geet & Kahaniyan, Nursery Rhymes books A & B, Panchatantra Kahani, and Moral Shikshaprad Kahani (in Hindi) were gifted to each of the 150 Anganwadis. The Anganwadi Workers were motivated to use these books for teaching poems and telling stories to the children for their cognitive development. The Supervisors were requested to check during their visits that the books were being used effectively to teach the children.

Now we have gifted books in 300 Anganwadis covering more than 8000 children to make learning fun for them. The remaining 150 Anganwadis of Project 1 will also be gifted the set of books this week.

May these books open a world of wonder for these children of Govt. Anganwadis.

Our dream project launched! Project “Nanhe Akshar” was actioned today.

Gifts of Mobility

A camp for the distribution of two wheelchairs, one tricycle, and one pair of walking sticks was organized today on 22.02.23 at 11 am at Community Centre Sector 41 Village Buterla by the Physically Handicapped Association Punjab U.T Branch.

Bharat Prakarsh Foundation contributed wheelchairs for Sania (18 years) with 100 % disability and Avtar Singh with 85% disability & walking sticks for Seema, a polio victim. Sardar Hardeep Singh Buterela donated one tricycle.

Seeing the smile on the face of Sania was heart-touching. Discussed with her mother how to improve the quality of life of this youngster.

May their lives be eased a bit with these gifts of mobility, we pray.

Project Nanhe Akshar

Project Nanhe Akshar–our dream for the children of Anganwadis takes shape. The books for 500 Anganwaris arrive from Maple Press, Noida. Each Anganwadi center will be gifted 5 books–Bal Geet and Kahaniyan, Nursery Rhymes A & B and 2 story books from Panchtantra & Moral stories series.

The Anganwadi worker will be trained and counseled to use these books every day for making learning fun for the children enrolled in the center. After every three months, an impact study will be done to assess the level of cognitive learning.

Cyber Security awareness for students

The Principal of Government Model High School Sector 36 D invited me for a talk on Cyber Security for Class VIII students. Since students today are spending much time in cyberspace it’s important to hold such sessions for all students to protect them from the risks of the internet.

It was quite interactive with students participating actively and asking many questions.

The Principal Mrs Kailash Sharma requested that such awareness be also given to senior students.

Sign Language Books support

Bhagirath Vidyalaya is an initiative taken up by the Deaf Leaders of our Tri-City under Sangeeta’s Hands and Eyes Foundation. There are 24 students enrolled in the center at Zirakpur– 12 girls and 12 boys. It is being run by Mr. Nitesh Sharma whose parents are hearing impaired.

They approached us for support in acquiring sign language books up to Class 5 which are being prepared by the Haryana Welfare Society for hearing-impaired students. One set of 13 books costs Rs 2600/ and they need 10 sets. Their Foundation is procuring 3 sets and we will assist them in getting the balance 7 sets.

2 sets are being donated by student Anya Bhatia Arora @Rs 5200/ and 2 sets from Bharat Prakarsh Foundation are committed. Donors for the remaining 3 sets are needed to support the students of this institution.

Anganwadi children party

The children of Anganwadi Sector 41 had a party courtesy cute little Ajooni, daughter of Ms Amri Grewal. They brought juice, chocolates and biscuits for the children who enjoyed the surprise treats.

Later we recited nursery rhymes and poems and played with the children joyfully.

The Anganwadi workers & helpers were advised to read poems & stories to the children every day and also engage them in creative activities for their cognitive development.

3-in-1 notebooks gifted to children

The children of Pre Nursery, Nursery & Class 1 of Govt Model High School Sector 36 were excited to receive 3 in1 notebooks today. Pencils, erasers and sharpeners were also given to the Class teachers. The joy of the kids was palpable and they demonstrated it too by hugging me. I was deeply touched to see their happiness.

96 notebooks were gifted, courtesy Ms Amri Grewal who made me cancel my order and procured all the copies herself. Many thanks, dear Amri. God bless you.
